The International Council on Clean Transportation maintains close personal and financial ties with the country that wants to flood the world with electric cars
The ICCT churns out advertising for plug-in cars. I have explained two examples of its misleading arguments here:
- New ad campaign for snake oil – from the ICCT
- Weitere affirmative Begleitforschung zur Elektromobilität
What motivates this campaign organisation to so vociferously promote a policy that would force car manufacturers to produce something that they cannot make money from?
Possibly money from China.
Part of the ICCT’s income comes from foundations in the United States, through which enlightened billionaire heirs seek to convert the rest of the world to the right path.
However, according to the 2023 Annual Report, another portion comes from an ‘Energy Foundation.’
The ICCT’s list of ‘Board Advisors’ reveals where this foundation is based and which country is influencing industrial policy in the United States and Europe in this way: Members include Yan Ding from the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Huiming Gong from the Energy Foundation – which is based in China.
Americans for Public Trust has this to say on the matter:
- The Energy Foundation sent its largest cheque—$770,000—to the International Council on Clean Transportation, a Washington, D.C., group that pushes for aggressive electric vehicle mandates.
- ‘The Energy Foundation’s direct ties to the Chinese Communist Party are incredibly alarming…’ Caitlin Sutherland, the executive director of ethics watchdog Americans for Public Trust, told the Free Beacon.
Another name pops up in this context: California Governor and combustion engine ban advocate Gavin Newsom. In 2023, he gave a speech on the Great Wall of China. U key PRC provincial leaders and our host Zou Ji, CEO & President of Energy Foundation China.“
Another name pops up in this context:
Gavin Newsom, the Californian governor and fighter for a ban on combustion engines, gave a speech on the Great Wall of China in 2023 (see photo). He was joined by important Chinese provincial politicians and host Zou Ji, the CEO and president of Energy Foundation China.
There they all stand together in harmony: lobbyists for a policy that would ruin the American and European automotive industries.
For the US, Trump has averted this for the time being. In Europe, we continue to race towards a wall, as shown by the EU Commission’s latest proposal to only allow plug-in cars as company cars.
